Burncoat Runs...


For the first time in the school history, 11 Burncoat student athletes qualified for the New Balance National Scholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This year's National championship took place at the A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina. The students left Worcester on Wednesday June 17th and returned on Sunday, June 21st.

The girl's relay team ran on Friday, June 19th, and, later on that day, Rodney also ran his individual 400 race. On Saturday June 20th, Mary jumped and the boy's relay team concluded the trip on Sunday.

These 11 student athletes included;

Freshman Mary Murphy who qualified individually for the triple jump and the sprint medley relay race.

Freshman Nana Anane qualified for the 100 meter race.

Sophomore Krystal Thorpe qualified for the 200 meter race.

Graduated senior Lauren Giard is also qualified for the 100 meter race.

Junior Maddie Hayman qualified for the 400 meter race.

There are two alternates for the girls; graduated seniors Catherine Huynh and Lauren Fitzgerald.

On the boys’ side, sophomore Rodney Agyare- May qualified individually for the 400 meters and also ran in the boy's sprint medley relay race. This is Rodney's 2nd time running in Nationals, he placed 4th last season running the freshman 400. Along with Rodney in the sprint medley relay was graduated senior Ebenezer Adams, who also ran the 100 meters.

Sophomore Ethan Decker ran the 100 meter race as well.

Junior Phil Jones ran the 200 meter race.

The boy’s team also had Kevin Asirifi and Terrence Agyare- May as alternates.
