Burncoat Football

Burncoat hasn't been particularly known for football — not until this year. The drastic changes have pushed the team to become more invested and dedicated. A lot of this success is credited to the introduction of Rick Cincotta as head coach. Coach Cincotta has worked vigorously to bring the Burncoat football team to complete one of its most promising seasons in recent history. The team itself has drastically increased since past seasons. This year's season ended with forty to fifty players, a large difference in comparison to the mere nineteen players as the previous year's season came to a close. Numbers have visibly improved as many younger players desire to be on the team.

With Coach Cincotta and the harsher discipline this year, players weren't allowed to slack — unless they didn't want to play. However, this change was definitely for the better with players like Andrew Bitar, a Burncoat senior, saying, "we're more of a team, definitely because of the new coach. He makes people want to play."

When asked about the dedication of the team, junior player, Brett Levesque, stated, "it allowed everyone to be energized. It showed the people who cared about the game. More parents were involved. [It was] just a much better environment. Everyone who was there wanted to be."

Although there were some disappointing losses this year, a lot of the games were very close. For example, during the game against Millbury, Burncoat lost by a mere six points, the final score being 27-21. Who could forget the very close homecoming game against North with Burncoat losing 14-12? Regardless, Burncoat had some outstanding victories this season. Burncoat annihilated South with a final score of 32-8 and crushed Blackstone-Millville with a score of 36-6.

There may have been some heartbreaking losses and triumphant victories this year, but there is no doubt that Burncoat Football will be back next year with more victories than losses.
