What Did 2016 Bring?

The most talked-about question for months in the United States has been a loaded one — Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? You may be sick of hearing the names, but one was just elected to be our next president in 2017.

We all knew the name Donald Trump before he even announced he would run for president. After taking over his father’s real estate and construction firm, Donald Trump began to soar. His empire grew, despite some setbacks (such as filing for bankruptcy six times). On top of being a billionaire, Trump’s television show and various movie appearances garnered him fame. It is clear that Mr. Trump is a powerful man.

The only person in his way was Hillary Clinton — former First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, Senator from New York, and Secretary of State. Clinton’s credentials are plentiful, and she obtained degrees from Wellesley College and Yale Law School.

However, in the end, Clinton lost 228 electoral college votes to Trump’s 290, despite winning the popular vote.

On January 20th, 2017, Donald Trump will be inaugurated in Washington, D.C. and will ascend to the presidency.
